Into the Unknown
Here at ND, it’s graduation weekend.
Cognitive Budget
Imagine you’re a knowledge worker, preparing an outline for an upcoming blog post you are going to write for your firm. What is the budget on that task?
On Personalization
Personalization is great. Netflix shows me the movies that I want to watch. Amazon shows me the products that I want to buy. As personalization increases, customer satisfaction should go up.
Artificial Anthropology
When a computer science researcher designs a new algorithm, they are often asked to conduct a theoretical analysis.
What or How
Parenting is different than managing.
Past the Line
Sometimes, it feels like you are running on empty. Like there is nothing left in the tank.
Choosing Channels
In information theory, two of the key concepts are encoders and decoders. An encoder will convert some message, typically via compression, so that it can be sent through a channel more efficiently. The decoder is on the other end of the channel. It receives the coded message and tries to reconstruct the original.
Turning Points
People often align behavior change to dates or events. A new year, a birthday, even the beginning of a new week can act as a catalyst for change.
Forks
When you come to a fork in the road, take it

On Tools
Thinking more about the job site metaphor, another area where there is a lot to learn is around tools.
